By Linfield News Team

Brad ThompsonBrad Thompson, chair of the Department of Mass Communication, stands at the summit of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro, at 19,336 feet the highest mountain in Africa.

He spent his fall 2012 sabbatical in Tanzania where he lectured at the University of Dar es Salaam’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. While in Tanzania he also met Altaf Fatal ’99, who lives in Dar es Salaam.

Linfield faculty are periodically granted sabbaticals to pursue research, teaching and other opportunities that enrich their classes and their students’ educational experiences.
