Linfield College is once again being recognized for its sustainability efforts by being included in the 2015 Princeton Review Guide to 353 Green Colleges. The annual guide was launched in 2010 and Linfield College has been included in every edition.
“Linfield is honored to be included in Princeton Review’s Guide to Green Colleges for 2015,” said Duncan Reid, Linfield College’s sustainability coordinator. “We are making a concerted effort as a community to reduce emissions and waste while increasing the livability of our campus community. We are happy to be recognized for the efforts that so many of us have put in to make Linfield a more sustainable community.”
Over the past couple of years, Linfield College has:
- Offset 44 percent of its carbon footprint;
- Added composting in the residence halls, dining hall and some apartments on campus, with the contents going to feed local pigs;
- Started a new pre-orientation program focused on sustainability;
- Offered a January Term course on local stewardship;
- Expanded the student garden which will offer a Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) in fall 2015.
