keyboard with Linfield logoFor the eighth year in a row, Linfield University has the highest-ranked online bachelor’s degree program among private colleges in Oregon. Linfield ranked 86th in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2021 edition of the “Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.” The annual report evaluates schools based on engagement, services and technologies, faculty credentials and expert opinion when deciding the online program rankings. No other private college in Oregon was ranked in the top 100.

“Linfield has a long history of providing high-quality in-person and online instruction,” Linfield President Miles K. Davis said. “The recognition by U.S. News & World Report confirms our commitment to provide a quality education to all of our students. In this time of a pandemic, higher education institutions must consider various modalities of instruction, and Linfield is proud to be able to meet the needs of our students wherever they are learning.”

Linfield University is home to 1,931 students at its McMinnville and Portland, Oregon, campuses, as well as through its Online and Continuing Education program, which accounts for 178 students. This fall, Linfield saw an increasingly diverse student body in both its online and in-person enrollment. Eighty-two percent of students in Linfield’s online programs are considered “new majority” students. These students include those who are the first generation in their family to go to college, U.S. students of color, lower income or transfer students. Enrollment from first-generation students in Linfield’s online programs has risen from 4% in 2016-17 to 32% in 2020-21.

Linfield has received numerous accolades this year for its commitment to diversity and return on investment. The university was recognized by Washington Monthly as the No. 1 liberal arts college in Oregon for first-generation student performance and earnings. Zippia also named Linfield the “Best College in Oregon for Getting a Job in 2020.”

The spring semester for Linfield’s Online and Continuing Education program starts on Feb. 1, with students able to enroll through Feb. 12. More information can be found online at www.linfield.edu/oce or by calling 800-452-4176.
