Linfield Theatre announces 2023-24 season

Students perform on stage at Marshall TheatreLinfield Theatre’s 2023-24 season, which features two full-length plays, two student-led performances and a celebrated experimental production, centers around themes of health, resilience and healing.

“As we emerge from a global pandemic that amplified the precarity of our systems — global, economic, health, immune — the theatre artists at Linfield seek to explore what it means to thrive, to heal, to grow, and to emerge,” said Lindsey Mantoan, an associate professor, resident dramaturg and intimacy director for the theatre program.

The season features two full–length plays: “The Wolves” by Sarah DeLappe, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, opens in late October, while an adaptation of Moliere’s “The Imaginary Invalid” by Oded Gross and Tracy Young takes the stage in April 2024.

Tickets for “The Wolves” go on sale Oct. 11.

The other two productions are wholly curated, directed and performed by students. “Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind: 30 Plays in 60 Minutes” by Greg Allen opens in December and “Springfest: Student Creative Projects” ends the season in May 2024.

In addition to the main stage productions, Linfield’s students will start the year Sept. 9 by participating in the 24 Hour Plays Project. Student playwrights, directors and actors create, rehearse and perform new plays, all within a 24-hour period. The clock starts running when playwrights receive their instructions on Friday, Sep. 8. The plays will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9. in Marshall Theatre. The show is free and open to the public.
