No crimes reported on Portland campus, reported crimes drop in McMinnville

Linfield University continues to foster safe campus communities. The 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, released Oct. 1, shows no crimes reported on the Portland campus and a decrease in reported incidents on the McMinnville campus.

The report includes statistics for the previous three calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the university; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, a university campus. Data included in this report includes statistics from Linfield’s McMinnville and Portland campuses.

Publishing this report is a requirement of federal law, including the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act.

2024 report highlights

The latest data shows that Linfield continues to be a safe place to live and learn. Specifically:

  • Reported crimes dropped on the McMinnville campus from 2023 to 2024.
  • The Portland campus remained steady with no reported crimes.
  • The most reported crime in McMinnville was liquor law referrals, which fell from 59 to 31 incidents.
  • Three incidents of stalking pursuant to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) were reported on the McMinnville campus — a 57% drop from seven in 2023. None were reported on the Portland campus.
  • No bias-reported crimes were reported on either campus.

Campus resources and policies available

In addition, the report includes links to institutional policies concerning campus security. This includes:
