Linfield University is the No. 1 liberal arts college for social mobility and graduate earnings in Oregon, according to Washington Monthly’s 2024 College Guide and Rankings.
Washington Monthly ranks four-year schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and providing opportunities for public service.
Linfield was also included in the magazine’s 2024 Best Bang for the Buck Rankings: West. This specialized list ranks schools according to “how well they help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.”
Other accolades from the magazine include:
- Top 40 liberal arts college in nation for community service (No. 34)
- Top 100 in social mobility (No. 64)

These are not the only accolades Linfield has received in the past few weeks. Princeton Review named the university to its 2025 ‘Best Western Colleges’ list, among those editors believe are “academically outstanding and well worth consideration.” Meanwhile, Forbes placed Linfield in the top 100 in both the national liberal arts universities and western U.S. categories for their 2024-25 “America’s Top Colleges” rankings.
