U.S. News & World Report named Linfield University the No. 1 private college in Oregon and No. 103 in the nation for online degrees. As part of its 2025 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs, U.S. News evaluated schools on a variety of factors, such as student engagement, faculty credentials, and services and technologies.

Linfield rose one spot from its national 2024 ranking. The university has long been Oregon’s top private college for online degrees according to the publication. It’s a title Linfield has held since 2013.

“We are beyond pleased to once again be the No. 1 in Oregon for private institutions for online degrees,” said Garry Killgore, program developer for Linfield’s Online and Continuing Education division. “We remain committed to continuing to push ourselves to provide the best quality educational online opportunities that we can”.

U.S. News’ also recognized Linfield on its 2025 Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs list. It was the only private college in Oregon on the list.

Linfield offers online bachelor’s degrees in accounting, education, international business, management, marketing, nonprofit management and nursing (RN to BSN program). The university also has online accounting and teaching certificates, as well as educational endorsements.

In its 13th year, the U.S. News Best Online Programs is designed for individuals looking to complete or further their education. This year’s edition evaluates more than 1,600 online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs using metrics specific to online learning. The rankings include only degree-granting programs offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.

“Access to accurate and up-to-date information about online programs is important for prospective students and professionals as they choose a program that aligns with their educational and career goals,” says LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for education at U.S. News. “By evaluating factors such as student engagement and program quality, Best Online Programs rankings can help students identify which schools offer an exceptional online learning experience.”
