Adult Degree Program announces significant growth in online enrollment for accounting degree and certificate programs

Linfield’s Adult Degree Program announces significant growth in enrollment of their online accounting programs.

The number of students enrolled in online accounting bachelor’s degree and certificate programs at Linfield increased 30 percent over the last two years, from 130 students in spring 2008 to 168 in spring 2010.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a strong demand for accounting positions in the next decade.  From 2006 to 2016, employment is expected to grow 18 percent, faster than average for all occupations.  Driving growth is an increase in the number of businesses, changing financial laws and corporate governance regulations, and an overall increase in accountability.

Linfield offers two educational programs in accounting — an accredited bachelor’s degree and an accredited accounting certificate. Each program prepares individuals for advancement in all areas of the accounting profession: public accounting (to become a Certified Public Accountant), government accounting and corporate accounting. The programs are offered in an accelerated format; the accounting bachelor’s degree can be completed in 24 months and the accounting certificate in 10 months.

Five accredited online college degree programs and three accredited online certificate programs are available through Linfield’s Adult Degree Program. Three additional degree and certificate programs are offered in a hybrid format, combining online courses with classroom instruction, through Linfield’s McMinnville and Portland, Ore., campuses.

Students in Linfield’s online degree and certificate programs come from all over the country, representing 25 states.
