One Wild Day, Linfield University’s annual giving event, begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 and runs through noon Thursday, May 9. Now in its ninth year, the 28-hour event consistently has exceeded its goals — last year, 680 donors gave more than $680,000 to support students, faculty and specific programs, far outpacing the $550,000 goal.
The annual event sees donations from the entire Linfield community, including alumni, students and their families, employees and other supporters in McMinnville, Portland and beyond. Gifts can be allocated to academic or athletic programs, scholarships, student wellness initiatives and campus organizations, among other recipients. Donations are tax-deductible, and there is no minimum donation amount.
This year, Linfield trustees are matching every gift, regardless of size, dollar-per-dollar up to $300,000. There are also dozens of fund-specific challenges, including a dollar-per-dollar match up to $20,000 for any gift to a women’s athletic team and a $5,000 gift if 125 alumni from the past decade donate.
“This is our single largest event of the year, and we are enormously grateful for every gift, whether it’s $10 or $10,000,” said Joseph Hunter, vice president for university advancement. “Your support during One Wild Day helps ensure students have the best possible Linfield experience, without added barriers.”
