Money magazine names Linfield one of Oregon’s top colleges for affordability and outcomes

June 28, 2024 by Kelly Williams Brown

A student in cap and gown smiles at Commencement. Best Colleges guide rates universities based on affordability and outcomes — and for the second year in a row, Linfield University earned 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Out of nearly 6,000 colleges and universities in the U.S., only 54 were ranked higher than Linfield. To even qualify for a rating, universities had to be above the national average in graduation rates, offer sufficient and reliable data and not be in financial distress.

With its 4.5-star ranking, Linfield is in the company of institutions like Vanderbilt University, University of Virginia, New York University, Northeastern University, Rhode Island School of Design, University of Texas, University of North Carolina, University of Wisconsin and Vassar College, among others.

(Related: U.S. News & World Report ranks Linfield No. 1 in Oregon for social mobility; Linfield graduates have highest median earning of any Oregon college or university)

Linfield was also included on Money Magazine’s Best Colleges in the West and Best Colleges with High Acceptance Rates lists.

Money’s rating is based on quality of education (30%), affordability (40%) and graduate outcomes (30%). Read more about the full methodology on the Money magazine website.
