Alumni, employees and donors can put their ‘paws’ to work for a purpose on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, by supporting Linfield University. GivingTuesday is a chance for the Linfield community to support areas that mean the most to them.

Celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, GivingTuesday is a globally recognized annual day of giving. Created in 2012, GivingTuesday inspires generosity at the start of the traditional holiday shopping season.

Organizers hope to build upon the success from last year’s campaign to raise $30,000 from GivingTuesday. Thanks to a generous donor, the first $10,000 raised will be matched dollar-for-dollar.

“We encourage all members of the Linfield community to take a moment to ‘pause,’ and raise their ‘paw’ for a cause that is important to them,” said Ellen Braziel, director of annual giving. “Our alumni, employees and donors are passionate about so many different areas at the university. GivingTuesday is a great opportunity to support — and encourage others to support — programs and designations that are meaningful to you.”

Donors can support any university fund as part of GivingTuesday. For those looking for inspiration, Braziel suggests the following high-need areas:

  • Scholarships, student support and services: Help make a college education affordable and ensure students have the resources needed to succeed.
  • The Linfield Fund: Support the area of greatest need at the university. The Linfield Fund makes an immediate impact on everything from campus improvements and classroom technology to helping students thrive as Wildcats.
  • Academic innovation in Linfield’s college and schools: Fuel cutting-edge research, updated learning spaces and unique learning experiences for faculty and students.
  • Wildcat Athletics: Give student-athletes the tools to be competitive — from updated facilities, new equipment and more.

“Each donation given during GivingTuesday makes a difference in the lives of our students,” said Joseph Hunter, vice president for university advancement. “The true power in days like this is not in where you give, or how much you give, but that you participate. Combined, GivingTuesday donations make a sizeable and important impact at Linfield.”

While GivingTuesday takes place on Dec. 3, online giving starts Nov. 25 at https://wildcatsgive.linfield.edu/pages/givingtuesday-2.
