Linfield University students now have expanded access to mental health and wellness resources. Linfield has partnered with BetterMynd, an online therapy platform serving more than 150 colleges and universities nationwide.
Thanks to this partnership, students now have a choice in counseling services. Students can receive free and confidential in-person counseling from Student Health, Wellness and Counseling staff, or they can access free teletherapy sessions through BetterMynd. With BetterMynd, students choose their own licensed counselor and schedule appointments at times that work best for them. This includes evenings, weekends and academic breaks.
“We’re thrilled to add BetterMynd as another form of support for our students,” said Jenny Haubenreiser, director of Student Health, Wellness and Counseling. “This partnership builds on the strong foundation of care we already provide for Linfield students. This new platform gives students even more flexibility to access help when and how they need it. It’s about meeting students where they are and supporting their holistic wellbeing.”
BetterMynd also provides 24/7 crisis support. Trained therapists are available around the clock to offer immediate care and triage needs. When necessary, they can also connect with Linfield’s emergency response protocols. This includes follow-up care and referrals.
Linfield students also have access to live, therapist-led wellbeing workshops through BetterMynd. These small group virtual sessions are free and include students from colleges around the nation. Topics chosen help participants build skills and competencies most relevant to college students. Examples of workshops are academic distress, healthy relationships, managing anxiety, time management, mindfulness skills and more.
“We reviewed several organizations providing teletherapy, and BetterMynd’s value-based and student-centered approach is an excellent fit for Linfield,” Haubenreiser said. “They really understand what today’s university students need — support that’s relevant, flexible, private and easy to access, whenever and wherever it’s needed.”
The addition of BetterMynd’s services is possible through a generous donation from a Linfield alumnus.
“Philanthropy makes a direct and lasting difference in the lives of our students,” said Joseph Hunter, vice president for university advancement. “This generous gift is an investment in student health, resilience and success. It ensures that every Linfield student can access the mental health resources they need to thrive, in the classroom and beyond.”
