Annual concert at Youngberg Hill supports music education at Linfield University

Grammy nominated recording artist Julianne Johnson and acclaimed pianist Michael Allen Harrison bring an evening of jazz, soul and contemporary music to Youngberg Hill on Sunday, Aug. 30. The pair are headlining the annual Sounds of Summer concert raising support for Linfield University’s music program.

Since 2004, Sounds of Summer has brought alumni, friends and community members together for an evening of live music in Oregon wine country. The annual benefit concert celebrates the arts while providing critical support for Linfield University’s Department of Music and the students whose talent and creativity enrich the university community.

Proceeds from ticket sales will provide resources for Linfield’s music program, including instructional support and performance equipment.

An evening featuring acclaimed Pacific Northwest artists

Michael Allen Harrison plays on the piano with Julianne Johnson singing in the foreground.

Johnson brings a powerful vocal style that blends jazz, soul, gospel and contemporary influences. A Grammy-nominated recording artist, award-winning composer/songwriter and longtime music educator, she has dedicated her career to both performing for audiences around the world and inspiring the next generation of artists.

Harrison has built a celebrated career as a pianist, composer and arts advocate. Known throughout the Pacific Northwest for his performances and original compositions, he has inspired audiences through his work on stage and in the community. Together, the pair will create an engaging performance designed to connect with longtime music fans and new audiences alike.
