Linfield musician recognized in top regional music concert

January 28, 2012 by Linfield News Team

Kayla Wilkens ’12 will compete in “Young Artists Debut,” a performance that features top classical musicians from the region.

Wilkens, a soprano, studies with Linfield Professor Emerita Gwen Leonard. The two-time winner will sing “Quel guardo, il cavaliere” from Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale.”

Ten young classical musicians, ages 12 to 21, have won this competition. They will perform with orchestra in an April concert at the Newmark Theatre in Portland.

“For wow factor, this concert can’t be beat,” said The Oregonian. “Each year’s winners turn out to be dazzling players.”
