Anthropology prof shares insights with international newspapers

August 28, 2012 by Linfield News Team

Professor Hillary Crane shared insights with newspapers in Asia and Europe about Buddhism’s stance on gay rights.

Crane, an anthropologist whose previous research has focused on Taiwanese Buddhism, provided insight for a story about a same-sex union in Taiwan. The marriage, performed in a Buddhist monastery, is thought to signal a shift in Asian thinking about gay rights.

The Times of India and Jakarta Globe, along with numerous other newspapers, carried the article.
