AUG. 27 THROUGH OCT. 6

ART EXHIBIT: An opening reception for “Social Landscapes: Two Views,” featuring ceramics and photography by Liz Harris and Katharine T Jacobs will be Saturday, Sept. 8, from 3-5 p.m. at the Linfield Gallery on the Linfield College campus. The show will run through Oct. 6, and is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 503-883-2804 or visit the gallery at www.linfield.edu/art/gallery.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 12

FACULTY LECTURE: David Sumner, associate professor of English, and Lisa Weidman, assistant professor of mass communication, will present “Eco-terrorism or Eco-tage: An Argument for the Proper Frame” Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College. THURSDAY, SEPT. 13

READING: Anna Keesey will read from her widely acclaimed debut novel, “Little Century,” Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room at the Jereld R. Nicholson Library at Linfield. FRIDAY, SEPT. 21

CONSTITUTION DAY: Linfield College will host a Constitution Day debate, “Has the War on Terror Undermined the U.S. Constitution?” Friday, Sept. 21, at 11:45 a.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield. The event is co-sponsored by the PLACE “Legacies of War” Pilot project and will feature Steve Knott of the U.S. Naval War College and Ofer Raban of the University of Oregon Law School. THURSDAY-SATURDAY, SEPT. 20-22

THEATRE: The Linfield Theatre will present “Old Saybrook” by Woody Allen Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 20-22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield College. Tickets are $5 and seating is reserved. Tickets are available at http://www.linfield.edu/culture, by phone or at the Marshall Theatre Box Office. Located in the lobby of Ford Hall, the box office is open Monday through Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m., and until 7:30 p.m. on performance days. For more information, call 503-883-2292.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 22

HISPANIC HERITAGE DAY: Linfield College will host the fifth annual Hispanic Heritage Day Saturday, Sept. 22, from 2-5:30 p.m. on the intramural field behind Pioneer Hall at Linfield. The event will feature entertainment such as singing, dancing and piñatas, and free food from 2-3:30 p.m. It is open to the community and sponsored by Linfield College Latinos Adelante and the Multicultural Programs Office. TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

LECTURE: James Miller, chair of liberal studies and professor of politics at the New School for Social Research, will deliver a lecture on his book, “Examined Lives: From Socrates to Nietzsche,” on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room in the Jereld R. FACULTY RECITAL: The Linfield Music Department will present a faculty recital featuring soprano Natalie Gunn and pianist Susan McDaniel Sunday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield.
