Oregon college students rank eighth in the nation for volunteering, according to a new study. Hundreds of Linfield College students have joined the outreach effort, volunteering in both local and global communities.
Linfield students focus primarily on sustainability, health care, outreach to those who are homeless or hungry, and mentorship of disadvantaged youth.
The small college was named to the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll in recognition of outstanding leadership in community engagement and service learning. And Linfield, ranked in the top 40 schools in the nation for participation in study abroad programs, is home to students who volunteer in countries across the globe.
