Students pitch in during local health campaign

February 18, 2013 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Linfield College volunteersFourteen Linfield College students volunteered at a “Know Your Numbers” health awareness campaign for employees at Bailey Nurseries in Yamhill over Christmas break.

Students, all members of Linfield College Latinos Adelante, a Latino mentorship program, measured height, weight, body mass index, blood glucose, blood pressure and caloric needs for more than 100 Bailey employees.

The students’ participation was crucial to the event, according to Rosalba Sandoval-Perez, human resource generalist at Bailey Nurseries, who said they greeted employees, ran the screenings and reviewed the results with the participants.

“The students did such a wonderful job,” said Sandoval-Perez. “They were friendly and professional and made our employees feel comfortable during the process.”
