An enthusiastic team of nursing students recently set up a tent in the cold and rain, to help immunize low-income and uninsured individuals and families in Portland.
The service project, led by Linfield Professors Vivian Tong and Karen Maxwell along with administrator Deb Henry, was part of the Care Connection Health Fair, sponsored by the Oregon Medical Association. Students provided more than 60 immunizations.
“In spite of the poor weather, our students demonstrated warmth and professionalism in each interaction,” says Professor Tong.
Linfield’s nursing major is a transfer-only program located on the Portland Campus in vibrant Northwest Portland.
