Participants enjoyed a beautiful day on campus, got a boost of enthusiasm, and received helpful information about how to promote diversity and family involvement in public schools.

The conference, sponsored by the Oregon Association of Bilingual Educators (OABE), showcased ways educators can increase student participation, enhance academic success and incorporate technology into the classroom.

Parents learned how they can help their children with school, and high school seniors and juniors who speak English as a second language met with Gerardo Ochoa, associate director of financial aid at Linfield’s Portland Campus. Ochoa helped students craft college essays and applications.

“It was an honor to be able to help so many educators and families from across the state,” says Linfield education Professor Kena Avila. “People were in good spirits and teachers loved having the conference at Linfield.”
