Portland theatre company to hold one-woman performance at Linfield

Hand2Mouth TheatreLinfield College will host Hand2Mouth Theatre’s production of “My Mind Is Like An Open Meadow” on Friday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield.

“My Mind Is Like An Open Meadow,” directed by Jonathan Walters, H2M artistic director, is a one-woman performance by Erin Leddy, an H2M ensemble member who also wrote the production. The production is based on the memoirs of Leddy’s grandmother, Sarah Braveman. Braveman was an actress in New York for more than 40 years, performing throughout the Northeast from the 1950s through the 1980s. Leddy lived with her grandmother in 2001, during which time she recorded Braveman’s audio memoirs and began to conceive of a solo performance that would eventually become “My Mind Is Like An Open Meadow,” which is a meditation on consciousness, memory, loss, fear and the creative process.

While on campus, Leddy will also work with Linfield theatre students. She has been a H2M company member for the last 10 years, creating, performing and touring new productions for the Portland-based theatre company during that time. Leddy has played a key role in the creation of 15 original H2M productions with a special focus on arranging and composing songs, as well as creating teaching choreography. She received her bachelor’s from Emerson College, where she worked with both the radio and theatre departments.

This production is free and open to the public. Seating is limited and is first come, first served. It is sponsored by the Lacroute Arts Series at Linfield and the Linfield College Department of Theatre and Communication Arts.
