Romero encourages simple language in chemistry video

June 5, 2014 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Kevin Romero '15Linfield College junior Kevin Romero understands the importance of speaking simply when it comes to science.

Romero, a chemistry and math major, was featured in a recent video by the Chemistry Ambassadors from the American Chemical Society. Watch the full video.

He was one of 16 winners of the Speak Simply contest during the Undergraduate Poster Session at the 245th American Chemical Society national meeting and exposition. Some 55 students competed in the competition that took place in New Orleans, La., earlier this year.

In the video, Romero discusses how important it is to talk about science using words that are understandable to everyone. Romero says that communicating simply — in a way that is easy to comprehend for all different types of people — has helped him become better at presenting research and leading tours as a Student Ambassador for the Office of Admissions.
