Tim Mooney will present “Shakespeare’s Histories: 10 Epic Plays at a Breakneck Pace,” Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield College.
Mooney has squeezed all 10 of Shakespeare’s histories into an epic one-man performance, capturing the history of England, from 1066 to 1533 into a single hour. Combining the most brilliant speeches of Shakespeare’s most challenging plays into a single hour-long performance, “Shakespeare’s Histories” reveals in a single performance the epic sweep of Shakespeare’s historical vision.
Mooney has already published “Shakespeare’s Histories” as a book, complete with full-color illustrations, graphs and maps, providing all of the contextual information that makes sense of the family relationships and the issues of royal succession that dominated these dramas. Author of the new acting text, “Acting at the Speed of Life,” as well as 17 rhymed verse variations of the plays of Molière, Mooney has turned over 150,000 students on to Molière and Shakespeare through his one-man plays, “Molière Than Thou,” and “Lot o’ Shakespeare.” His Linfield presentations of these plays were very popular.
It also contributes to the area’s celebration of the works of William Shakespeare in honor of his 450th birthday year.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information call the Department of Theatre and Communication Arts at 503-883-2802.
