THURSDAY, OCT. 30
SEEKING JUSTICE PROJECT: “Behind Barbed Wire” will be presented Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College. The lecture, part of the Seeking Justice Project, will feature Yosh Nakagawa, Herb Tsuchiya and Lilly Kodama telling the stories of their experiences when they were interned at Camp Minidoka. The program is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Frazee Lecture in Bible and Religion, PLACE (Program for the Liberal Arts and Civic Engagement), First Baptist Church and Interfaith Advocates for Peace with Justice. FACULTY RECITAL: Albert Kim, assistant professor of music at Linfield College, will present a piano recital on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. MONDAY, NOV. 3
SEEKING JUSTICE PROJECT: “Seeking Justice: Places of Conscience” will be presented by Carol Ash, chief of interpretation and education for the National Park Service at Camp Minidoka, on Monday, Nov.3, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall at Linfield College. The program, part of the Seeking Justice Project, is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Frazee Lecture in Bible and Religion, PLACE (Program for the Liberal Arts and Civic Engagement), First Baptist Church and Interfaith Advocates for Peace with Justice. TUESDAY, NOV. 4
ERICKSEN LECTURE: Alice Levine, the 2014 Ericksen scholar and professor emerita of English at Hofstra University, will present “Cutting and Slashing Byron’s Poetry: Editing the Selected Works” on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Austin Reading Room in Nicholson Library at Linfield College. BAND CONCERT: The Linfield College Concert Band will perform “Music Inspired by the Written Word” on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. WEDNESDAY, NOV. 5
SEEKING JUSTICE PROJECT: “Breaking the Silence,” a theatre drama written by Nikki Nojima Louis, will be presented Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College. The performance, part of the Seeking Justice Project, will narrate the experience of Japanese immigration to the West Coast of the U.S. The program is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Frazee Lecture in Bible and Religion, PLACE (Program for the Liberal Arts and Civic Engagement), First Baptist Church and Interfaith Advocates for Peace with Justice. NOV. 6-8, 13-15
THEATRE: Linfield College Theatre students will present “Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom,” a suspense thriller about the impact of technology Nov. 6-8 and 13-15 at 7:30 p.m., with a late-night show on Friday, Nov.7, at 11 p.m. in the Marshall Theatre in Ford Hall at Linfield. Tickets are $9 for full price; $7 for seniors (62+) and Linfield faculty and staff and $5 for students, with a $2 discount on opening night. Tickets will be available at http://www.linfield.edu/arts, by phone or at the Marshall Theatre Box Office. Seating is reserved. Located inside the lobby of Ford Hall, the box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., and until performance time on performance days. FRIDAY, NOV. 7
SEEKING JUSTICE PROJECT: “Immigration Issues: Past and Present,” a forum featuring voices from the Japanese, Asian and Latino community, will be held Friday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on 125 Cowls St., McMinnville. Yosh Nakagawa, Herb Tsuchiya, Miriam Corona and Julie Braker will speak. The program, part of the Seeking Justice Project, is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Frazee Lecture in Bible and Religion, PLACE (Program for the Liberal Arts and Civic Engagement), First Baptist Church and Interfaith Advocates for Peace with Justice. OPERA GALA: The Linfield College Music Department will present an opera gala celebrating the music of Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni and Ruggero Leoncavallo on Sunday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. ENVIRONMENTAL TALK:
Robert Musil, a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, will present “The Legacy of Rachel Carson: Do Environmentalists Make Any Difference” on Monday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College. FACULTY LECTURE:
Anna Keesey, assistant professor of English, will present “The Girl in the Pool and Other Problems: Excerpts from a Novel in Progress” on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in 201 Riley Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public. The Linfield College faculty lecture series offers one presentation each month by a member of the Linfield faculty.
