Honoring Parker

November 21, 2014 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Parker Moore '17 memorialNearly 2,000 friends and family celebrated the life of Parker Moore ’17 during a memorial service Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium at Linfield College.

For those who were unable to attend in person, an archive of Parker’s service is available online.

Earlier in the week, hundreds of students gathered on the football field for a moving candlelight vigil in honor of Parker Moore Tuesday. The Linfield community has demonstrated overwhelming compassion and care as a result of this heartbreaking tragedy. The Health and Wellness Center continues to provide additional counseling services, and Wednesday, students had the opportunity to pet and play with therapy dogs in the Fred Meyer Lounge.

The Parker Archie Moore Memorial Fund at the National Christian Foundation Seattle has been established by his family to provide scholarship support to a Linfield student who most exemplifies Parker’s outstanding character and qualities. In remembering him, head football coach Joe Smith ’93, said, “Parker, in my opinion, embodied everything that’s good about Linfield.” This fund celebrates Parker’s life, his legacy, and his love for Linfield. You can make contributions at www.linfield.edu/parkermoore.

Information about reactions to trauma and a list of resources on campus can be reviewed at this link: www.linfield.edu/support. Linfield will host a series of activities for students who will be on campus during Thanksgiving break.
