It takes commitment and dedication – and occasionally a monster cookie – to impact youth. Fortunately, Kathie Byers ’14 has all three.

Byers is the driving force behind LINCS, a local nonprofit organization making a difference in the lives of Sheridan youth. The program sponsors Nite Court, a weekly sports activity session held Saturday evening in the Faulconer-Chapman Elementary School gym. Teenagers who participate in the LINCS program also bake and sell five types of “Kathie’s Kookies.”
The Linfield business management graduate helped found LINCS – Leading, Inspiring, Nurturing, Connecting, Succeeding – in 1996 during a 20-year career as a paralegal, before returning to college at Linfield. Her work with LINCS developed into a passion for working with youth.
