Fighting back through the loser’s bracket with four straight victories at the NCAA Division III Decorah Regional, Linfield shocked favored Luther 8-0 and 4-2 to capture the championship series on Mother’s Day at the Luther College Softball Complex.
Senior Montana McNealy (Sr., Aloha, Ore.) was magnificent in pitching the Wildcats to two wins, breaking the single-season record for wins and strikeouts on the same day.
Danielle Duman (So., Eugene, Ore.) homered in each game and the Wildcats outhit Luther 15-7 for the day.
Linfield moves on to a best-of-three playoff NCAA Super Regional, Friday and Saturday, at a campus site to be announced later by the NCAA.
