Melissa Yancy ’99 of Los Angeles, Calif., was awarded the 2016 Drue Heinz Prize for Literature for her book of short stories, “Dog Years.” Her book was selected from nearly 300 entries.
Yancy’s “Dog Years” was selected by author Richard Russo on Jan. 13, and the award includes a $15,000 cash prize. “Dog Years” will be published later this year by the University of Pittsburg Press. Read the full story.
Yancy said her stories “set the miracles of modern medicine against the inescapable life of the everyday: awkward first dates, the indignities of air travel, and overwhelming mega store cereal aisles.”
