A series of homecoming events for students and alumni are planned for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 1 at Linfield College.
Student activities begin with “Culture of Consent” on Monday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. in Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall. On Tuesday, Sept. 27, students can get coffee and donuts during morning passing periods in the Walker Courtyard. On Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 8 p.m. a Drag Show will be held in Ice Auditorium. On Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8 p.m., We Three will perform at Cat Cab in Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall with free food for the first 150 people. On Friday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m. the annual Mr. and Mrs. Linfield will be held in the Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
Registration for alumni activities begins Friday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. in Fred Meyer Lounge. The Founders’ Society Luncheon will be held at noon in Jonasson Hall, lower level of Melrose Hall. At 1:30 p.m., alumni can sample local wine during a wine tasting at Brooks Winery.
Kerry Nordstrom-Bradley, class of 2010 and recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumna Award, will present “Living on the Edge: Counseling on the Bering Sea,” at 3 p.m. in 222 T.J. Day Hall. She will discuss her experience as a school counselor in Scammon Bay, a bush village in Alaska, and how her Linfield career brought her to where she is today.
Floyd McKay, class of 1957 and recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award, will give a talk at 4 p.m. in 222 T.J. Day Hall. McKay is the author of “Reporting the Oregon Story: How Activists and Visionaries Transformed the State.” He will discuss his time as an Oregon reporter and journalist.
“Linfield’s Finest,” a gathering for alumni, friends and faculty, will present the alumni award winners at 5:30 p.m. at the McMinnville Grand Ballroom. In Addition to Nordstrom-Bradley and McKay, other award winners include Pete Dengenis, class of 1964 and Alumni Service Award recipient, and David and Jeanne Beck, owners of the Crawford-Beck Winery and recipients of the Walker Service Award.
Alumni events continue on Saturday, Oct. 1, with registration at 9 a.m. and campus tours at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. At 10 a.m., a Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority reunion will be held on the Withnell Patio and a “Nifty Fifties” brunch for alumni from the 1950s will be held in Dillin Hall. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a Kanto Gakuin University celebration in Jonasson Hall and an English department reunion in T.J. Day Hall.
An all-alumni barbecue begins at 11:30 a.m. in the parking area of the Vivian A. Bull Music Center, followed by the Linfield Wildcats vs. Lewis and Clark Pioneers football game at 1:30 p.m. At 2:30 p.m., the men’s soccer team will take on Pacific Lutheran University. At 4 p.m. alumni of the Black Student Union are invited to meet with current students on the Withnell Patio. At 4:30 p.m. Kappa Sigma Fraternity will host a post-game barbecue outside Ford Hall. Post-game class reunions will be held for the classes of 1956, 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996 and 2006. At 7 p.m. comedienne Jenna Brister, class of 2006, will perform in Ice Auditorium.
Alumni and friends may also participate in the Parker Archie Moore 3.5 Memorial Run/Walk on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 9 a.m. at Maxwell Field.
