Linfield College Community GardenLinfield College has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability by being included in the 2016 Princeton Review’s Guide to 361 Green Colleges. The annual guide was launched in 2010 and Linfield has been included in every edition.

“The Linfield community has made a tremendous effort over the past decade to reduce our waste and we’re honored to be included in this guide,” said Duncan Reid, Linfield College sustainability coordinator. “Through a variety of successful projects and programs, our students are connecting with a common environmental foundation. We are committed to this long-term process of making Linfield a more sustainable community.”

In recent years, Linfield has:

  • Offset 100 percent of the campus’ carbon footprint through a partnership with Renewable Choice
  • Reduced waste from move-out processes on campus by 75 percent through a Give-N-Go program
  • Initiated a Green Office program for staff and faculty, verified by Green Seal
  • Built a new green house and expanded organic production in Linfield’s public garden
  • Integrated sustainability into 12 academic courses
  • Created a sustainability minor
  • Began offering SOIL, a pre-orientation program focused on sustainability
