Linfield College students, faculty and staff raised $1,305 and collected 40 boxes of food – 1,379 pounds worth — Dec. 9 as part of the “Stuff the Bus” project for the Yamhill County Action Partnership (YCAP) food bank.
Students and faculty were encouraged to sign up individually or in groups to fill a box of canned food or to raise funds equivalent to a box of canned food. On Friday, the campus came together to see all of their efforts pay off and fill the YCAP bus.
Groups including the Panhellenic and Intrafraternity councils, Associated Students of Linfield College and various campus departments participated. Among the proceeds, representatives from ASLC presented a $350 check to YCAP on behalf of the Linfield student body.
“We wanted to be a part of helping with a community-wide service event that got the entire campus involved and directly benefitted the McMinnville community,” said senior Mikenna Whatley, ASLC vice president.
The event was coordinated by Linfield’s Community Engagement and Service Office and held in connection with the community Stuff the Bus event, which is sponsored by Willamette Valley Medical Center.
