Linfield College ChoirThe Linfield College Concert Choir will cap its 2018 tour of southern California with a homecoming concert.

The Choir Tour Homecoming Concert will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield. The concert is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature a variety of musical styles including multicultural music; choral works by Peter Maxwell Davies, Richard Pygott and Seattle-based composer John Muehleisen; as well as pieces by Arvo Paert, Brahms, Palestrina and Mozart. Johnandrew Slominski, assistant professor of keyboard studies and music theory, will also perform two piano pieces by Chopin and Gershwin/Wild.

The choir members toured southern California during the college’s January term, where they worked with high school choirs and performed at retirement communities. Under the direction of Anna Song, associate professor of music, the Linfield College Concert Choir is the premier choral organization at Linfield. As the first such ensemble in the Pacific Northwest, this select group has toured annually since its formation in 1930 performing throughout the western United States, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, China, Southeast Asia and Costa Rica. The choir is open to all students by audition and consists of dedicated students from all majors and disciplines across campus.
