The Fauré Quartett, one of the world’s leading piano quartets, will perform Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College.
Dirk Mommertz (piano), Erika Geldsetzer (violin), Sascha Frömbling (viola) and Konstantin Heidrich (cello) make up the award-winning quartet, which has released a number of well-regarded albums and collaborated with artists such as Rufus Wainwright and Sven Helbig. Harald Eggebrecht, writing for the “Süddeutsche Zeitung,” said that the quartet “is right up there with the best ensembles you can listen to today.”
The concert is sponsored by the Linfield Lively Arts Series, which features guest artists in concerts and outreach activities, including master classes, open rehearsals and “Meet the Musicians” events with students and local audiences. It is presented in partnership with Friends of Chamber Music (FOCM), a Portland-area non-profit organization, dedicated to presenting the highest quality chamber ensembles in concert, and providing educational outreach to further chamber music. FOCM is the longest non-interrupted chamber music series in Oregon and the sixth longest running in the country.
Tickets are $10 at the door; Linfield students with ID and K-12 students are free. For more information, visit www.linfield.edu/arts or call 503-883-2275.
