May 2, 2018 by Christian Feuerstein

By Christian Feuerstein

Songwriting students perform at Linfield CollegeLinfield College student songwriters will perform their creations during an open mic event Wednesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Vivian A. Bull Music Center. The songs explore a wide variety of topics and popular music styles.

Students enrolled in Linfield’s Songwriting course engage in creative songwriting, including collaboration techniques, lyric writing, composing an effective melody with accompaniment and performance. They explore collaborations between songwriters and lyricists, analyze selected songs for deeper understanding and study the role of song in various U.S. settings.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit linfield.edu/arts.
