Linfield College’s Adult Degree Program, which offers bachelor’s degrees and certificate programs in both online and hybrid settings, announces the hiring of a new associate dean of nursing for Distance Learning.Jacqueline “Jacque” Dolberry will support Linfield’s rapidly growing online RN to BSN program.
The number of students enrolled in Linfield’s online RN to BSN degree program increased 53 percent over the last year, from 91 students in spring 2009 to 139 in spring 2010.
Dolberry, who joined Linfield in early February, came from Salish Kootenai College in Montana where she was director of the nursing program. Salish Kootenai is the only tribal college nursing program with national accreditation in associate and baccalaureate programs.
“My focus has been on health disparities, cultural competence and diversity in nursing and health professions in both my education and clinical roles,” says Dolberry.
The new dean’s background and experience with recruitment initiatives for under-represented groups in the workforce and the academy will enhance diversity recruitment and retention in the Linfield-Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Linfield’s RN to BSN degree program employs a variety of delivery formats to overcome barriers registered nurses frequently encounter in accessing higher education: work schedules, proximity to a college and responsibilities to family. RNs can complete all of the courses in the RN to BSN degree through online classes. Each RN-BSN student carries carry out a clinical experience, tailored to the RN’s learning and professional goals, wherever they are licensed in the U.S.
Dolberry is completing a PhD in educational leadership at the University of Montana.
Linfield College Adult Degree Program
Chartered in 1858, Linfield is one of the oldest colleges in the Pacific Northwest and is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. The Division of Continuing Education’s Adult Degree Program offers adults the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree or certificate in both online and hybrid (combination online and classroom) settings. Bachelor’s degrees offered include accounting, arts and humanities, business information systems, management, social and behavioral Sciences and international business. Certificate programs include accounting, computer information systems, human resource management and marketing.
Students in Linfield’s online degree and certificate programs come from all over the country, representing 25 states. Linfield College has been offering online courses for more than 10 years.
