Seasonal choir concert

December 3, 2018 by Christian Feuerstein

By Christian Feuerstein

Linfield College ChoirRing in the holidays this season with choral music and a seasonal celebration at Linfield College.

The Linfield College Department of Music and Chaplain’s Office will present a seasonal choir concert and celebration Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall at Linfield College.

The Wildcat Men’s Glee Club, Cascara Voce Women’s Ensemble and the Linfield Concert Choir are collaborating with the Chaplain’s Office to perform a program of choral music and sacred readings to celebrate various holiday traditions of light. The concert will feature multiple world languages and familiar songs including “This Little Light of Mine,” “Twelve Days of Christmas,” “Joy to the World,” “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” “Silent Night” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” A festive holiday reception will follow the event in Fred Meyer Lounge in Riley Hall.

The Linfield College Concert Choir is the premier choral organization at Linfield. This select group was the first such ensemble in the Pacific Northwest. The choir has toured every year since its formation in 1930, traveling throughout the western states, Hawaii, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, China and Southeast Asia and has performed at state, regional, national and international conferences.

The Wildcat Men’s Glee Club and Cascara Voce (Women’s Vocal Ensemble) offer students and staff from across campus and the community the opportunity to sing and perform a wide variety of literature written for male and female voices throughout the year, and occasionally combine to perform repertoire for mixed voices.

The Chaplain’s Office supports the mission of the chaplaincy through a variety of services and programs. Chaplain David Massey is committed to building bridges between faith communities both on and off campus.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 503-883-2275 or visit linfield.edu/arts.
