Quartetto Gelato to perform as part of Linfield Lively Arts Series

November 8, 2019 by Ramsey Cox

By Ramsey Cox

The award–winning Quartetto Gelato will perform as part of the Linfield Lively Arts Series on Monday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium, located in Melrose Hall at Linfield College.

With a performance repertoire that spans the globe including classical masterworks, operatic arias, the sizzling energy of tangos, gypsy and folk songs, Quartetto Gelato’s (QG) theatrical stage presence and relaxed humor establishes an intimate rapport with audiences worldwide.

QG established themselves as dominant forces on the music scene early in their career by winning the coveted title of NPR Performance Today’s Debut Artist of the Year. In 2007, the group’s first DVD, “Quartetto Gelato: A Concert in Wine Country,” was picked up by PBS throughout the United States for broadcast. QG won the honor of Best Classical Ensemble at Canada’s 2010 INDIE awards.

The concert is sponsored by the Linfield Lively Arts Series, which features guest artists in concerts and outreach activities, including master classes, open rehearsals and “Meet the Musicians” events with students and local audiences. It is presented in collaboration with Friends of Chamber Music, a Portland-area non-profit organization, dedicated to presenting the highest quality chamber ensembles in concert, and providing educational outreach to further chamber music in our community.

Tickets are $10 at the door and free for K-12 students and Linfield students with current ID. For more information, call 503-883-2775 or visit linfield.edu/arts.
