Vagina Monologues for Henderson House, a Linfield Theatre production

February 11, 2020 by Alexandra Feller

By Alexandra Feller

In honor of V-Day the Linfield College Theater program will present a staged reading of the play The Vagina Monologues on Thursday, February 13 at 7 p.m. in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium in Melrose Hall.

V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against all women and girls. With creativity and determination, V-activists around the world tirelessly work to end harassment, rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation and sex slavery.

All proceeds for the performance will benefit Henderson House in McMinnville, OR. Henderson House is a domestic violence shelter that provides support and services for victims of sexual violence and assault. Tickets are $5.00 (cash preferred) and will be available only at the door the night of the event. Seating will be first–come, first –served.

The reading will involve the help of students, community members, alumna, and faculty. It is part of the continuing celebration of Linfield Theatre’s 100th anniversary season.

This year twenty participants will take the stage to entertain, question, and inspire. Participants are: Jane Comer, Beatrice DeGraw, Daphne Dossett, Isabel Duran-Castañeda, Dawn Graff-Haight, Stephanie Johnson, Anna Keesey, Ronni Lacroute, Jenny Layton, Alexis Matsunaga, Kat McCann, Raisa Mlynski, Sharon Morgan, Abbie Northrop, Sammi Palmer, Janet Peterson, Zack Robey, Shannon Seehawer, Trudy Siderius, Nicole Tigner, and Mara Youngren-Brown.

The New York Times has called The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler “probably the most important piece of political theater of the last decade.” Since 1998, thousands of performers carry on the tradition of performing The Vagina Monologues royalty–free for the month of February to raise awareness and to help stop violence against women and girls.

For more information call 503.883.2802 or visit www.linfield.edu/arts. This play contains mature subject matter and language.
