Emergency grants available for students’ COVID-19-related expenses

Emergency Grants available for students' impacted by COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has caused financial strain for many in the Linfield community. To ease this burden, Linfield students can apply to receive a grant to cover expenses related to the pandemic.

Linfield earmarked donations during the recent Linfield Gives fundraiser for a new COVID-19 Student Aid Fund. These funds are available for all students who need financial assistance due to the pandemic.

In addition, Congress set aside emergency funding in the recently enacted Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act to assist students with expenses resulting from the disruption of normal campus operations; items such as housing, food, technology, health care, child care, and course materials.

If you were enrolled for the spring 2020 semester, you can find a link to the online application and frequently asked questions on Linfield’s COVID-19 updates page. This application process is for all students, regardless of which funding source is utilized.

UPDATED May 27, 2020:

Additional applications for Student Emergency Grants resulting from COVID-19 impacts have been suspended. We are currently prioritizing and processing our existing backlog of applicants. Approved applicants will be notified during the first week of June 2020. If you have special circumstances, please contact Financial Aid to discuss alternative aid programs that may be available.  If additional funding for Student Emergency Grants becomes available through legislative or other sources, this program may be resumed.

The COVID-19 page will be updated as new information becomes available. As of May 27,2020, Linfield has approved grants to approximately 500 students totaling almost $640,000.
