Impact of “High Risk” guidelines on Linfield’s campuses

February 25, 2021 by Kathy Foss

By Kathy Foss

Linfield University banner on campusAs of Friday, Feb. 26, both counties in which Linfield operates – Multnomah and Yamhill – move to the “High Risk” category of the State of Oregon’s county risk levels. This is the first time since the risk levels were implemented in December 2020 that both locations will be in the “High Risk” instead of “Extreme Risk” category. These risk levels will be in place from Feb. 26 to March 11.

With this change, certain restrictions on Linfield’s campuses will be modified.

Starting, Friday, Feb. 26:

  • Indoor events, if approved by the Office of Conference and Event Planning, are now allowed to occur.  Room capacities are limited to 50% of the posted COVID-19 room capacity or 50 people total, whichever is smaller.
  • The dining tent on the McMinnville campus, located on Renshaw Avenue, will reopen with a maximum capacity of 50 people.
  • Outdoor recreation, including athletic competitions, will have the maximum capacity raised from 50 people to 75 people.
  • Linfield’s weight room and cardio room on the McMinnville campus will reopen with restrictions and schedules similar to the fall semester.  See guidelines or reserve your time via Bookings at https://golinfieldwildcats.com/sports/2020/8/26/hhpa-fitness-facilities.aspx.

Regardless of risk level, the following remain in effect until removed by Linfield University:

  • Social gatherings or social events remain limited to six people, from two different households or family units.
  • All in-person, on-campus events must be approved by the Office of Conference and Event Planning (as is required in normal event-planning processes) via 25Live, Linfield’s online event scheduling software.
  • All existing COVID-19 Linfield Temporary Policies remain in place for all campus events, regardless of location, capacity, or purpose. Visit the Office of Conference and Event Planning for full event policies.
  • No food is allowed at indoor events.

State-wide safety measures and Linfield Temporary Pandemic Policies such as continuing to wear masks, keeping physical distance and avoiding indoor and large gatherings are still key to helping to stop the spread of illness and protect ourselves and others, even for those who have been vaccinated. See additional information on the Linfield University COVID-19 webpages.
