Linfield University hosts Richard Zeller, a baritone who has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, for a free recital at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2 in Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium. The concert will feature music by Brahms, Duparc, and Strauss, among others. Zeller will be accompanied by collaborative pianist James Pick.

Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium is located inside Melrose Hall on the Linfield University McMinnville Campus (900 SE Baker Street). Complimentary parking is available on Blaine, Linfield and Pioneer Streets, as well as in the lots located on Blaine Street or Cowls Street.

“Richard Zeller is internationally acclaimed for both his concert and opera roles,” said Anna Song, chair of Linfield’s Department of Music. “His performances at Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and countless other world-class venues have consistently received rave reviews.”

Zeller is performing at Linfield as part of his upcoming residency. He will serve as an artist in residence for the upcoming fall semester.

“With his vast professional experiences and teaching background, Zeller is a master teacher,” Song said. “Our students will have a tremendous opportunity to study with a world class artist who has studied and performed with the greatest vocalists and musicians of his generation.”

One of America’s foremost baritones, Zeller was the soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Oregon Symphony in the 2018-19 season. He is recognized for his dramatic voice, a compelling stage presence and outstanding musicianship. Zeller is a graduate of George Fox University.

“To hear an artist of this caliber on campus is truly an amazing opportunity for all, especially for free,” Song said.
