Linfield University has hired Joe Latulippe as the director of academic advising. His first day was July 1. In this role, he will lead the advising team, support faculty advisors, collaborate with stakeholders across both the McMinnville and Portland campuses, and work to enhance the student experience.
Latulippe joins Linfield from Norwich University in Vermont, where he served as an academic advising coordinator and associate professor of mathematics. Before that, he spent four years as an assistant professor at Cal Poly Pomona in California. His experience as a faculty athletic representative and an NCAA Division III assistant coach in men’s lacrosse has enabled him to connect with students-athletes beyond the classroom. Latulippe has been awarded numerous research grants from the Vermont Biomedical Research Network (formerly the Vermont Genetics Network) for his work on using mathematical and computational modeling to better understand neuronal function in Alzheimer’s disease environments.
“I am excited to join a vibrant and committed community and hope that my experience in higher education as a faculty member and in advising will help me make positive contributions across the institution,” Latulilppe said.
He earned his master’s degree in 2002 and doctorate in 2007, both in mathematics from Montana State University – Bozeman and his Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics from Sonoma State University in 2000.
“We are really pleased to welcome Joe Latulippe to Linfield as our director of advising,” said Susan Agre-Kippenhan, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “His rich experience in advising, his deep understanding of the role of faculty and his familiarity with private higher education will be of tremendous benefit.”
Outside of work, Latulippe enjoys spending time with his kids, painting and drawing, bike riding and practicing Aikido.
