Amarcord, a world-renown vocal quintet out of Germany, will perform at Linfield University at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5.
The concert, the final performance of this year’s Linfield Lively Arts Concert Series, is free for all K-12 students and Linfield ID holders. General admission tickets are $10 and available at the door. Amarcord will perform in the Richard and Lucille Ice Auditorium inside Melrose Hall on Linfield’s McMinnville campus.
“We could not be more thrilled and honored to welcome the Amarcord vocal ensemble to campus. This internationally-acclaimed vocal quintet has won numerous prizes and toured throughout the world for decades,” said Anna Song, chair of the Linfield music program. “Their firm belief in the transformative power of music is palpable in their performances.”
Founded in 1992 by erstwhile members of St Thomas’s Boys Choir in Leipzig, the fall of the Berlin Wall moved the members of Amarcord to begin touring. Amarcord’s hallmarks include a unique tone, breathtaking homogeneity, musical authenticity and a good dose of charm and humor. The quintet’s repertoire spans medieval plainsong, madrigals, works of the European Romantic period, arrangements of a cappella folksongs and hits from the soul and jazz charts.
“Their concert is not to be missed,” Song said.
The Linfield Lively Arts Concert Series brings world-class musicians and ensembles to Linfield University for concerts, masterclasses, open rehearsals and “Meet the Musician” events with students and local audiences.
