Nine Linfield baseball players graduated from college the same day they nabbed third place in the NCAA Division III championship tournament.
Athletics didn’t take precedence over scholarship for the seniors, who couldn’t make commencement but collected their diplomas just before the championship game.
“We’re proud of our scholar athletes,” said Linfield College President Thomas Hellie. “For them, winning in academics is just as important as winning on the field.”
The Wildcat baseball team has won more regular season games and NCAA playoff games than any team on record.
