Linfield University’s Wine Lecture Series will continue Wednesday, March 1 with a talk from Amanda Wittstrom Higgins, who has spent decades making wine’s tent larger. A complimentary wine reception begins at 5:30 p.m., with the lecture to follow at 6 p.m in Nicholson Library (location) on Linfield’s McMinnville campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Wittstrom Higgins is the founder of Dream Big Darling, a 501(c)3 dedicated to mentoring, educating and retaining women in the wine industry, as well as the owner of Full Cup Solutions, “a full-service consulting firm for agriculture and beverage industry businesses eager to build impactful and unconventional strategies for the future.”
Amanda’s efforts have been recognized with accolades such as a Wine Enthusiast 40 Under 40 Tastemaker (2019), a Social Visionary of the Year nomination at the Wine Enthusiast Wine Star Awards (2019), Central Coast Wine Industry Person of the Year (2020), and inclusion on the SLO Tribune’s Top 20 Under 40 list.
She will discuss the state of the industry for women today, her own professional journey and why she is dedicated to amplifying new voices and speaking to new audiences in the wine space.
“Amanda is a tremendously exciting voice in the wine world. Not only does she know all facets of this industry, she’s actively moving it forward with her vision of a more inclusive wine culture,” said Tim Matz, Domaine Serene chair of the Evenstad Center for Wine Education. “I anticipate a great talk that will be inspiring for both our students and those in the wine community who join us.”
Visitors may park in any unreserved spot. The Wine Lecture Series is supported by the Marka and Thomas Hughes Endowed Wine Lectureship Fund.
