Linfield College was named one of the region’s top schools by The Princeton Review and recognized for academic strength, financial aid, quality of life and dedication to sustainability.
The Review recognized the school’s 12:1 student-faculty ratio and award-winning professors, and 96 percent of all undergraduates receive need-based financial aid.
Student surveys were used to determine student happiness based on the friendliness of other students, the beauty of campus and the ease of dealing with administrative offices. Linfield students, the Review said, can choose from 80 clubs, organizations and teams, and the 193-acre campus is only an hour away from both Portland and the Oregon Coast.
The “Best” selection is based on institutional data, campus visits, and student and staff surveys. About a quarter of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges are included in the “Best” list.
The Princeton Review also named Linfield one of the nation’s top green schools in their 2009 guide to green colleges, and the school was named to Washington Monthly’s 2009 list of the nation’s top 100 liberal arts schools based on community engagement and outreach.
Established in 1858, Linfield is one of the first colleges in the Pacific Northwest.
