Linfield University remains a leader in its commitment to sustainability. It was no surprise, then, that the university was once again named to “The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2024 Edition.” The publication has included Linfield among its best green colleges list since its inception in 2010. Colleges are included for their “programs, policies and practices related to sustainability and the environment.” The guide is accessible for free at www.princetonreview.com/green-guide.
The Princeton Review chose the 522 colleges for this edition based on its 2022–23 survey of administrators at 683 colleges concerning their institutions’ sustainability-related policies, practices, and programs. The company also surveyed students attending the colleges about their sustainability-related campus experiences. The company editors analyzed more than 25 data points from the surveys to tally Green Rating scores for the schools on a scale of 60 to 99. Colleges included in the guide earned a Green Rating of 80 or higher.
Sustainability efforts showcased on new green campus webpage
Linfield’s sustainability-related projects and resources on its campuses in McMinnville and Portland are now available on a new webpage – www.linfield.edu/sustainability.

Linfield offers both academic and extracurricular programs for students passionate about helping the world around them. The environmental studies major offers interdisciplinary courses with focus areas in science, policy or the humanities. Outside of class, employees and students can get their hands dirty in the campus gardens on both campuses. Both campuses also offer EV chargers, water bottle refilling stations, reusable dining ware for events and robust recycling programs.
The page outlines new initiatives, including Linfield’s Sustainable Living Community for students living on the McMinnville campus. Also highlighted are projects that Linfield has been involved in for years like the Cozine Creek Restoration Project.
Annual Camas Festival highlights community-wide conservation efforts
In fact, on Friday, May 10, 2024, the McMinnville campus celebrates the Cozine Creek area on its campus with its third annual Camas Festival. The event is a partnership between Linfield, the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and the Greater Yamhill Watershed Council to celebrate the cultural, biological and artistic significance of the purple camas flower. The event features panel discussions, tours and more. Additional information on the event is at linfield.edu/camasfest.
