School pins are unique – linking students with a specific program. The Linfield nursing pin, representing the history of its school of nursing, marks the completion of a student’s nursingeducation and symbolizes a commitment to serving patients, families and communities in theirnursing practice.

President Mark Blegen also attended the event. The December 2025 Pinning Ceremony marked his first as Linfield president.

What an extraordinary group of individuals we witnessed cross this stage tonight. You have earned your pins, your place in this profession and the admiration of everyone in this room … As you begin this next chapter, know that you are ready. You are needed. And you are capable of remarkable and meaningful things. This evening is a celebration not only of what you’ve accomplished, but of who you’ve become.”

– Paul Smith, dean of the Linfield School of Nursing
