Art prof curates milestone Portland exhibit

Professor and Linfield Gallery Director Cris Moss is the point person for the “Portland 2010” biennial, featuring Oregon artists.

He is also a critically respected artist. In the late 1990s he was one of the first in Portland to produce the kind of art events that defined the social and artistic attitudes of Portland’s new creatives.

Moss featured 18 handpicked artists, chosen from more than 300 artists and groups. Each is deeply accomplished and has helped move the Oregon art world toward a more contemporary perspective, with some receiving national recognition.

“It was important to choose a curator who understands the local art world’s complex history,” a Portland art leader told The Oregonian.

The exhibition has received extensive media coverage. Hosted by various galleries in Portland, it runs through May.
