Biking professor set to create 70-mile bike trail

November 28, 2012 by Linfield News Team

By Linfield News Team

Physical education Professor Jeff McNamee is kick-starting a 70-mile bike trail that will connect Willamette River greenways and local wineries. Read more in the Statesman Journal.

The multi-use recreational trail will meander through forests, vineyards and greenways in Salem, near McMinnville.

It’s a massive undertaking, which is one reason McNamee and the nonprofit he founded in 2010, the Salem Area Trail Alliance, are starting small. But progress already has been made. Four miles are currently being constructed by volunteer crews and should be completed by the end of January 2013.
